Background of the Appointment of Rhonda McClendon as Guardian
6.1.1
Rhonda McClendon, a Certified Public Accountant in Newnan, Georgia, was
recently appointed to be guardian of the property of Gary Wayne Thompson. This
appointment occurred after Mark Andrew Gomez “resigned” as guardian. The
resignation of Mark Andrew Gomez resulted from a barrage of complaints
concerning his conduct as guardian of Gary Wayne Thompson. Complaints against
Mark Andrew Gomez came from many sources as diverse as the family of Gary
Wayne Thompson, the Coweta County Office of the State of Georgia’s Department
of Family and Children’s Services, Stephen Johnson, M.D. of Shepherd’s Spinal
Center and Reverend Melvin Payne.

Since Rhonda McClendon was appointed as guardian of the property of Gary
Wayne Thompson, she has diligently endeavored to determine the extent of
misappropriation and waste of the assets of Gary Wayne Thompson. After making
this determination, she now is attempting to restore these assets to Gary Wayne
Thompson.

Mark Andrew Gomez is a Newnan lawyer, currently in private practice using
the designation of Mark A. Gomez & Associates, P.C. According to the records of
the Secretary of State of Georgia, this Professional Corporation is active but not in
compliance. The principal place of business of this defendant is located at 19 Perry
